Let D be the fixed point, AC be the pillar

Then,CD=100m

AB is the height to be increased

In triangle BCD,

tan45°=BC/DC

1=BC/100m

BC=100m

In triangle ACD,

tan60°=AC/DC

√3=AC/100m

AC=100√3

AC=100×1.73(√3=1.73)

AC=173m

Height to be increased=AB=AC-BC

=173m-100m

=73m (approx.)

Therefore,the pillar has to be increased by 73m to fulfill the conditions of the contract
