a contractor deployed some men to plant 1800 trees in a certain no. of days.But in 1/3rd of the planned time 120 plants could be less planted so to fulfill the target for the rest of the days every day 20 more plants were planted. Thus it saved one day out of the initially planned no. of days. how many plants he planned to plant each day initially

The answer is 100 plants. It can be made by hit and trial method.

Total no of plants = no of plants ×days

or, 1800=100×18

After 1/3rd days

Remaining Plants=1800×2/3+120=1200+120=1320

or, 1320=(100+20) ×11

Total no of days planned=18 days

Actual no of days in which the work was finished=1/3 of 18 +11=6+11=17

Thus, it shows that in the second case 1 day was saved than the initially planned number of days
