Given:

A contractor undertook a piece of work in 25  days

To Find:

How many days behind the work  have done.

Solution:

1) After the 10 days work 200 more men were employed to complete the work on time.

2) Let the time taken by the 500 men to complete the remaining work after ten days is X.

3) The work done by the men will be the same in both cases,

• 500×X = 700×15

• X = 700×15/500

• X = 7×3

• X = 21

If more men were not employed then they will take 21-15 = 6 days extra to complete the same work.

6 days behind the work is about to finish.
