a converging beam of light travelling in air converges at a point P as shown in the figure.When a glass sphere of refractive index 1.5 is introduced in between the path of the beam ,calculate the new position of the image.Also draw the ray diagram for the image formed (diameter of the glass sphere is 10 cm and convering beam of light from glass sphere of P is 20 cm)

Given Data :

u = 20

f = 10

v= ?

( 1/ f ) = ( 1/ v ) - ( 1 / u )

( 1/ 10 ) = ( 1 / v ) - ( 1/ 20 )

( 1/ v ) = ( 1/ 10 ) + ( 1/ 20 )

( 1/ v ) = ( 2/ 20 ) + ( 1/ 20 )

( 1/ v ) = { ( 2 + 1 ) / 20 }

( 1/ v ) = ( 3 / 20 )

v = ( 20 / 3 )

The new position of the Image is ( 20/ 3 ) .
