A convex lens formed as real and inverted image of a bject

at a distance of 25 cm from it. Where is the object placed in front

of the convex lens if the image is equal to the size of the bject?

Also find the power of the lens

Answer:

Object distance, u= – 50 cm

Image distance, v= 50 cm

Focal length = f

According to the lens formula,

u = -50 cm

v = + 50 cm.

f =?

1/f = 1/v – 1/u

1/f = 2/50 = 1/25

f = 25cm

Power of the lens p = 1/f

P = 1/25cm-1

= 1/25(10-2m)-1

=100/25m-1 = 4m-1

1m-1 = 1D

P = 4D
