A convex lens made of material of refractive index n2 is kept in a medium of

refractive index n1. A parallel beam of light is incident on the lens. Compare the

path of rays of light emerging from the convex lens if (i)n1<n2 (ii)n1=n2 (iii)n1>n2

(i)n1<n2

It means convex lens is denser than the medium.

Therefore, emerging rays would be converging.

(ii)n1=n2

If the medium is same than the emerging rays would remain same as parallel beam of light.

(iii)n1>n2

It means convex lens is rarer than the medium.

Therefore, emerging rays would be diverging.
