Another name of the converging lens is a convex lens. It can converge the light rays that are falling on it. When the object is placed at a very less distance, the image formed by the mirror is virtual, erect and magnified. It means that the size of he image is larger than the object.

A magnifying glass performs the same function. It can magnify the size of the object when placed closer.

Hence, a convex lens may also be used as magnifying glass.
