The object is placed at a distance of 6 cm from the lens.

Explanation:

It is given that,

Image distance from the convex lens, v = 10 cm  (from the lens)

Focal length of the convex lens, f = +15 cm

If u is the position of object with respect to the mirror. It can be calculated using lens formula as :

\dfrac{1}{f}=\dfrac{1}{v}-\dfrac{1}{u}

\dfrac{1}{u}=\dfrac{1}{v}-\dfrac{1}{f}

\dfrac{1}{u}=\dfrac{1}{10}+\dfrac{1}{(15)}

u = 6 cm

So, the object is placed at a distance of 6 cm behind the lens.
