explanation

v = 10/3 cm (positive)

u = -5 cm (negative)

now

1/v + 1/u = 1/f

so

1 ÷ 10/3 + (-1/5) = 1/f

3/10 - 1/5 = 1/f

1/10 = 1/f

so f = + 10 cm
