Answer is 6 liters.

Solution: Since the cash hai Wine & water in the ratio of 5:2 and total mixture is 49 liters. Hence, present quantity in the cask is Wine 35 liters and Water 14 liters.

Let Wine be 5X and Water be 2X. Hence, 5X + 2X = 49 liters. Hence X = 7.

Hence Wine is 35 liters and water is 14 liters.

Now, assume we have to add “Y” litres of water in the cask to make the ratio 7:4. Hence, we have a new Equation:

7/4 = 35L/(14 + X)

Solving X we will get X = 6 Liters. hence, if we add 6 liters to the original mixture we will get new mixture with ratio of 7:4.
