A coolie with a suitcase on his head is climbing up on a ladder with uniform speed. Explain the work done by the coolie on the suitcase.

The work done by the coolie on the suitcase is ZERO

Coolie is not doing work because we know that, Work Done= Force × Displacement.

Work Done = FxSxCosФ

Here, coolie climbs in the vertical direction making an angle of 90°.

Hence, Work Done = FxSxCos90°

⇒ Work Done = 0 (Zero)
