A copper having resistance R is cut into four equal parts . find
1.the resistance of each part in terms of original resistance of the wire and;
2.the resistance of the combination if these four parts are connected in parallel

Resistance of whole wire or connected in series is R.
or R = pl/A ……(i)
Resistance in each small wire = pl/4A
= pl/A ×1/4
= R/4 [using(i)]
Resistance of parallel combination = 4/R+4/R+4/R+4/R
= (4/R)×4
= 16/R
