volume of copper rod = πx R^2 x L

length of wire, l = 18 cm

let radius of wire be r

volume of wire= π x r^2 x l

volume of copper rod= volume of wire

πx R^2 x L =  π x r^2 x l

.5^2 x 8 = r^2 x 18

r^2 = 2/18 = .111

r =\sqrt{.111} = .333 cm

=3.33 mm

d= 2 x r = 2 x 3.33 = 6.66 mm
