If current is passed through it, the electrons inside the atoms of copper start moving in a particular direction from random moving (positions).

Explanation:

If there is no current flowing from the copper wire then the wire would be freely at the same position and even if the current passes through the wire, then even it's position does not change.

The thing change is the direction of travel of electrons which are now aligned and moving toward a single position from before which is random movement of electrons.

As, we know the electrons travel from low potential to high potential, from negatively charged pole to positively charged pole.
