A copper wire having resistance R is cut into 4 equal parts. (a) Find the resistance of each part in terms of original resistance of the wire. (b) Find the resistance of the combination if these four parts are connected in parallel.

(A) RESISTANCE OF EACH PART= R/4 OHM


(B) IF THEY ARE CONNECTED IN PARALLEL THAN
  ITS EQUIVALENT RESISTANCE
= VALUE OF RESISTANCE/NO OF RESISTANCE
= R/4/4
=R/16 OHM

then. .
1/R'=1/R+1/R+1/R+1/R
1/R'= (1+1+1+1)/R
1/R'=4/R
R'=R/4
