a cork piece weighs 12.5 g . Initial volume of water in a measuring cylinder was 24cm³ . when a a glass Sinker was immersed in water, the volume of water and Sinker was found to be 56cm³ . when the cork was tied to the sinker and both of them were immersed in water , the volume reading in measuring cylinder was 88cm³ . Calculate the density of cork piece in SI units .

Explanation:

Volume of water + volume of sinker = 56 cm³

Volume of water + Volume of sinker + Volume of cork = 88 cm³

56 cm³ + Volume of cork = 88 cm³

Volume of cork = ( 88-56) cm³ = 32 cm³

Mass of cork = 12.5 g

Density = Mass / Volume

:. Density of cork = 12.5 /32 ×10³ = 390.625 kg/

Important note : To convert g/cm³ to kg/m³ multiply by 10³
