number of grains = 671

A corn cob shaped like a right circular cone has the radius, r of its broadest end as 2.8 cm and length, h as 15cm.

l = √(15² + 2.8²) = 15.26 cm

so, curved surface area of corn cob = πrl

= 22/7 × 2.8 × 15.26

= 22 × 0.4 × 15.26

= 8.8 × 15.26

= 134.288 cm²

now each of the surface of the cob is 1cm² carries 5 corns

so, number of grains = 134.288 × 5

= 671.44 ≈ 671

hence, number of grains = 671
