The value of x = 6 and the number of potteries produced is 6.

Step-by-step explanation:

Correct statement should be:

A cottage industry produces a certain number of potteries in a day. It was found that the cost of production of each article is Rs.3 more than twice the number of potteries produced in a day. If the cost of production on that day was Rs. 90,find the number of potteries produced.

Let  the number of potteries be produced = x

Cost of production of article on that particular day was = ( 2x + 3)

Total cost of production will be = x(2x + 3)

According to question:

x(2x + 3) = 90

2x^2 + 3x - 90 = 0

2x^2 + 15x - 12x - 90 = 0

x(2x + 15) -6 (2x + 15) = 0

(x - 6)(2x + 15) = 0

(x - 6) = 0

(2x + 15) = 0

x = 6

2x = -15

x = -15/2

Since x = -15/2 not possible

Therefore the value of x = 6 and the number of potteries produced is 6.

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the no. of potteries be x

Cost production of article on particular day (2x+5)

Total cost of production will be x(2x+5)

Acc. the Ques

x(2x+5)=168

2x^2+5x=168

2x^2+5x-168=0

2x^2-16x+21x-168=0

2x(x-8)+21(x-8)=0

(x-8)(2x+21)=0

x-8=0    OR    2x+21=0

x=8      OR     2x=-21

x=8                  x=-21/2

no. of potteries cannot be in negative

So,8 potteries were produced
