Answer:

Number of articles = 8

Cost per article = 21

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number of articles produced that day = n

Cost of production per article = 2n + 5

Total cost of production = n X (2n + 5) = 168

⇒ 2n² + 5n = 168

⇒ 2n² + 5n - 168 = 0

Solving the quadratic equation,

(2n + 21) X (n - 8) = 0

n = 8 OR n = \frac{- 21}{2}

Since, the number of articles produced cannot be a fraction.

n = 8

Cost per article = (2 X 8) + 5 = 21
