A cottage industry produces a certain number of pottery articles in a day. It was observed on a particular day that the cost of production of each article(in rupees) was 3 more than twice the number of articles produces on that day. If the total cost of production on that day was Rs.90. Find the number of articles produced and cost of each articles.

SOLUTION

Let x be the number of Pottery articles produced on a particular day

Now,

Cost of production of each article= 2x+3

Total cost of production = x(2x+3)

=) x(2x+3)=90

=) 2x^2 +3x -90 =0

=) 2x^2 +15x -12x- 90=0

=) x(x+15) -6(x+15) =0

=) (x+15) (x-6) =0

=) x+15 = 0 or x-6 =0

=) x= -15 and x= 6

The no. of articles can't be negative

so, x= 6

Hence, the number of articles is 6.

hope it helps ✔️

⚡Here is your answer⚡

Given:The total cost of

production =Rs.90

Let the no of pottery

articles produced be x.

Therefor , cost of production of

each article= Rs.(2x+3)

The total cost of production =

no. of pottery

produced ×cost of production

A.T.Q

90=x(2x+3)=0

=>2x^2+3x-90=0

=>2x^2 + 15x-12x-90=0

=>x(2x+15)-6(2x+15)=0

=>(2x+15)(x-6)=0

Now 2x+15=0 =>2x=-15

=>x=-15/2

=>x-6=0

=>x=6

=>x=-15/2 or x=6

As the no. of article produced will only be in positive , therefore x can be 6.

Hence no. of article produced = 6

Coste of each particle = 2 × 6 + 3= Rs.15.
