Covalent bond is formed by sharing of electrons between non-metallic atoms. They are insoluble in water & have low melting & boiling points. They are bad conductors of electricity.

CH4 is methane & a carbon compound

Since carbon is tetravalent, it bonds with 4 hydrogen atoms by sharing electrons.

Methane belongs to the alkane group with the general formula CnH2n+2. Carbon & Hydrogen forms single bonds.

Diagram is given in attachment.
