Solution :-

Let the total number of mangoes be 'x'

As 1 out of every 30 mangoes in the carat is bruised

Then,

Number of bruised mangoes = 1x/30

And,

3 out of every 4 bruised mangoes are considerably unsaleable and there are 12 unsaleable mangoes in the carat.

Total number of unsaleable mangoes in the carat =  3/4*1x/30

= 1x/40

1x/40 = 12

x = 480

Hence, total number of mangoes in the carat is 480

Option (b) is correct.
