Solution -

We have,

  • Initial speed (u) = 0
  • Acceleration due to gravity (g) = 10m/s²
  • Height (h) = 20m

We have to calculate the final speed of the ball. We know that for a freely falling body,

⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀★ v² = u² + 2gh

Putting all the values

➝ v² = (0)² + 2 × 10 × 20

➝ v² = 0 + 20 × 20

➝ v² = 400

➝ v = √400

➝ v = 20 m/s

Thus, the speed of cricket ball when it hits the ground will be 20 metres per second.
