v = 0m/s
s = 5m
a = 10m/s²
Using equation,
v²=u²+2as
0 = u²+2(-10)(5)
0 = u²-100
u² = 100
u = 10m/s
Initial speed of ball = 10m/s
Now,
using equation,
s = ut+½at²
5 = 10t+½×(-10)t²
5 = 10t-5t²
5t²-10t+5 = 0
(5t²-5t)+(-5t+5) = 0
5t(t-1)-5(t-1) = 0
(5t-5)(t-1) = 0
t = 1
Total time taken to reach the highest point = 1second
Cheers!
