Answer

Given -

  • Mass = 100 g = 0.1 kg
  • Speed = 30 m/s
  • Time = 0.03 s

To Find -

  • Change in momentum ?
  • Force applied by the player ?

Solution -

Initial Momentum = mu = 0.1*30 = 3 kg m/s

Final Momentum = mv = 0.1*0 = 0 kg m/s

So, change in momentum = 0 - 3 = (-3) kg m/s

Finding acceleration :

➸ v = u + at

➸ 0 = 30 + a * 0.03

➸ - 30 = a * 0.03

➸ a = -30/0.03

➸ Acceleration = -1000 m/s²

Force applied by the player : mass * acceleration

➸ F = ma

➸ F = 0.1 * -1000

➸ Force = -100 N

Hence, change in momentum = - 3 kg m/s force applied by the player = - 100 N.
