A cricket ball of mass 150 g moving at a speed of 25 m/s is brought to a rest by a player in 0.03 sec.Find the average force applied by the player

Using Impulse-Momentum Principle,

                I=Δp             (I - Impulse, p - momentum)

          F x Δt=Δp

          F x 0.03=0.15 x 25

          F x 0.03=3.75

              F=3.75/0.03

              F=125N

Mass, m = 150g = 0.15kg

Speed, v = 25m/s

Time, t = 0.03sec

So

=> F = ma

To find a (acceleration) we use

=> a = v/t

=> a = 25/0.03

=> a = 833.34  m/{s}^2

Now to find Force we use

=> F = ma

=> F = 0.15kg × 833.34 m/{s}^2

=> F = 125N
