a cricket ball of mass 150g moving at a speed of 12m/s and after hitting by the bat it is deflected back at the speed of 20m/s if the bat and the ball remained in contact for 0.02 s then the impulse and average force exerted on the ball by the bat are respectively? pls show how to do

Answer:

Mass of the ball, m = 150 g = 0.15 kg

Initial speed of the ball, u = -12 m/s

Final speed of the bal after being hit, v = 20 m/s

Impulse = change in momentum = final momentum initial momentum

= Impulse = 0.15 × 20 0.15 × (-12) = 4.8 Ns
