Answer:

Mass of ball, m=150g=0.15Kg

Velocity, v=20m/s

Time, t=0.1sec

Momentum, p=mv

Force,

F= time upon

momentum

F= t upon

mv

F= 0.1 upon

0.15×20

F=30N

So, the force exerted be the ball is 30N.

Impulse,

J=force×time

J=30×0.1

J=3Ns

Given

  • Mass = 150 g
  • Initial Velocity = 15 m/s
  • Final Velocity = 0 m/s
  • Time = 0.05 s

To Find

  • Impulse
  • Average Force

Solution

☯ Impulse = Change in Momentum

  • And the change of momentum is given by, mv - mu or m(v-u)

☯ Average Force = Impulse × Time

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

According to the Question :

➞ Impulse = Change in Momentum

➞ Impulse = m(v-u)

  • Mass = 150 g = 150/1000 = 0.15 kg
  • Initial Velocity = 15 m/s
  • Final Velocity = 0 m/s

➞ Impulse = 0.15(0-15)

➞ Impulse = 0.15 × (-15)

➞ Impulse = -2.25 Kg m/s

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Average Force :

➞ Avg Force = Impulse × Time

➞ Avg Force = (-2.25) × 0.05

➞ Avg Force = -0.1125 N

  • The negative sign shows us that both the vectors are in opposite direction of the motion to the ball
