We shall first calculate the deceleration

a = (v - u) / t

here,

v = 0

u = 0.5 m/s

t = 0.5s

so,

a = (0 - 0.5) / 0.5

thus,

a = -1 m/s2

now, the force applied will be given as

F = ma

here.

m = 70 g = 0.070 kg

so,

F = -1 x 0.070

thus,

F = -0.07 N
