So, the numbers of losing matches = X - 3

Then, total numbers of matches= X+ (X - 3) = 2X - 3

Now, Points for Winning matches= 2X

Then, total points = 2X + (- X + 3) = X + 3

According to Condition of Question,

X + 3 = 23

=> X = 23 - 3

So so, X = 20

Now, Total numbers of Matches = 2 * 20 - 3 = 40 - 3 = 37
