A cricket team won 75% of the matches. If the number of matches lost by them is 20,find the total number of matches played by them.

Answer:

Let the total no. of matches be x.

Therefore, no. of matches won= 75% of x i.e

$\frac{3x}{4}$

Total matches lost =20 (given)

$\frac{3x}{4} + 20 = x$

$=> \frac{3x + 80}{4} = x$

$=>3x + 80 = 4x$

Therefore,

$x = 80$

So total matches played are 80.
