The poem is based on a poor Girl who has returned to London to earn her living. She has been living within the countryside and a lot of accustomed to the natural scenes and sounds she falls into a reverie. Once, she hears the enchanting song of thrush within the quiet time of the morning. In her imagination seems her home district with its hills, fog and green meadows. The message behind the portrayal of those natural sounds is to represent the feelings Susan feels once she imagines these things.

Answer:

in the story reverie of poor susan, the author Wordsworth says that the idea of the poem suggested to him by the “affecting” singing of birds that has been seen in streets of London.

Purpose behind writing of this poem is to show the contrast between the life in the countryside as well as life in the city.

Author is able to successfully assert blessed sights as well as sounds in nature.

He also found and enjoyed in the countryside can only be discovered.
