A crow bar of length 1.0 m is used as a machine to lift a box of 50kgf by placing a fulcrum at a distance of 0.2m from the box. Calculate the effort required.

Load = 50kgf

Load Distance = 0.2 m

Effort Distance = 1 m

Mechanical Advantage (M.A) = Effort Distance/Load Distance

= M.A = 1/0.2

= M.A = 5

∴ M.A = Load/Effort

= 5 = 50/Effort

= 5Effort = 50

= Effort = 10 kgf

The Effort will be 10 kgf.
