Once upon a time, there lived a crow, who was terribly unhappy with how he looked. He would look in the mirror and turn away in disgust. One day, he happened to come across some peacock feathers. Thrilled, he decided to stick them to his own body. He thought that he was not a black crow anymore. He was a colourful bird, like the peacock and went to live with the peacock. The crow told him that now they were relatives. Alas, the peacock laughed at him, called him silly and shooed him away.

'Go away!', he said. 'You are not a peacock!'

Saddened by the conversation, the crow went back to the tree where the crows were perched. They burst out laughing at his very sight.

'Go away!', they screeched. 'You are not jet black like us.You are not a crow!'

The poor crow was now left without a single friend, and rightly so. If he couldn't love himself, why should anyone else love him?
