Let side of solid cube is A and small cube is B.

Given, volume of solid cube equals to volume 27 small cubes.

Volume of cube = side^3.

A^3 = 27 x B^3

A = 3B.

Surface area of solid cube = 6 side^2 = 6 x A^2 = 6A^2.

Surface area of small cube = 6 B^2.

Ratio = 6 A^2 : 6 B^2

but A = 3B

A^2 = 9B^2.

Ratio = 9 : 1.
