The length of  side of ‘small cubes’ is 2cm

Given:

A cube of 12cm is divided into 216 small cubes.

To find:

Length of the side of the small cube

Solution:

A cube is a “three dimensional square” with six equal sides. For e.g. cheese cubes or ice cube resemble cube shape.

Volume of cube = s3 (whereas s = length of any edge of the cube)

Now, 216=6 \times 6 \times 6

It has been given that we are to divide the cube of 12cm into 216 small cubes. Hence,

\frac{12}{6}=2 \mathrm{cm}

Hence, the length of small cubes will be 2 cm.
