a cube of edge 8 cm is immersed completely in a vessel containing water . if the dimension of the vessel 30cm×24cm×20cm , find the rise of water level in the vessel​

The volume of the cube is = (side)³

8³ = 512 cubic centimeters.

It means the amount of water displaced is 512 cubic cms.

Now this volume of water is to be represented in a rectangular vessel having 30 cms length, 24 centimeters breadth, the height of water column is to find out :

The volume of the rectangular is = lxbxh

here is the working :

30x24xheight = 512 (equal to the displaced water), or

height = 512/720 = 0.7 cm

The rise of water level in the rectangular vessel is 0.7 cm.
