Answer :

  • 4 cylinders will be formed

Given :

  • side of cube, s = 22 cm
  • radius of cylinders, r = 7 cm
  • height of cylinders, h = 121/7 cm

To find :

  • On melting the cube, how many cylinders of given radius and height could be formed.;  Let n = ?

Knowledge required :

  • Formula to calculate volume of cube

    Volume of cube = ( side )³

  • Formula to calculate volume of Cylinder

   Volume of cylinder = π r² h

( where r is radius and h is height of cylinder )

Solution :

Calculating volume of cube

→ Volume of cube = ( side )³

→ volume of cube = ( 22 )³

Volume of cube = 10648 cm³

Calculating volume of each cylinder

→ volume of cylinder = π r² h

→ volume of cylinder = (22/7) × (7)² × (121/7)

→ volume of cylinder = 22 × 121

volume of cylinder = 2662 cm³

Calculating number of such cylinders formed

Let, number of such cylinders formed = n

→ n = V of cube / V of each cylinder

→ n = 10648 / 2662

n = 4

therefore,

4 cylinders will be formed on melting the cube.
