A cube, of side 8 cm, is melted and recast into a cuboid of length 8cm and breadth 5 cm. What is the height of the cuboid obtained?

initial Volume of cube = 8³ = 512

new formed cuboid have l = 8 b = 5 and h = ?

vol of cuboid = vol of cube as its made from same thing

therefore vol of cuboid = lbh

= 8 x 5 x h = 512

= 40 x h = 512

h = 512/40 = 12.8 cm

therefore the height is 12.8 cm
