a cube of side 9 cm is melted and 27 more small cubes are made from it find the side of the smaller cubes

Volume of big cube = 9^3

==> 729 cm^3

Number of cubes is 27.

We know that : Volume = side^3

Volume of small cube = 729 cm^3 / 27

=27 cm^3

==> Side ^ 3 = 27cm^3

==> Side =3cm

The sides are 3 cm

To Find :

Find the side of the smaller cubes

Solution:

Side of big cube = 9 cm

Volume of cube =Side^3 = 9^3 = 729 cm^3

Let the side of small cube be x

Volume of 1 small cube =Side^3 = x^3

Volume of 27 cubes = 27x^3

So,729=27x^3\\\frac{729}{27}=x^3\\\sqrt[3]{\frac{729}{27}}=x\\3=x

Hence the side of the smaller cubes is 3 cm
