Curved surface area of the cylinder = 31.37× R²

Given:

  • A cube of side r is inscribed in a sphere.
  • The sphere is inscribed in a cone with height equal to the diameter of its base.
  • The cone is inscribed in a right circular cylinder.

Find:

        The curved surface area of the cylinder.

Explanation:

  • The diagram is given in 2 D diagram i will show in figure.
  • Side of cube is "R"
  • From given figure.
  • From Pythagoras theorem Diameter of sphere=\sqrt{2} × R
  • Radius of sphere = \frac{\sqrt{2} }{2} × R = \frac{R}{\sqrt{2} }
  • From property of equilateral  triangle centroid is divide the medians in the ratio 2:1
  • From Pythagoras theorem radius of base of cone = 1.58 × R
  • Diameter of base of cone = 3.16 × R
  • So from given configuration Height of cylinder = 3.16 × R
  • Curved surface area of the cylinder = \pi × Diameter × Height

                                                            =31.37× R²
