A cubic solid is made of two elements P and Q .
Atoms of Q are at corners of the cube .
so, number of Q - atom per unit cell = 8 × 1/8 = 1 [ because at corner 1/8th part of atom is shared by each unit cell ]
P- atom is placed at body - centre.
so, number of P - atom in a unit cell = 1
so, ratio of P - atom : Q - atom = 1 :1
hence, formula of the compound is PQ
since , solid is body - centered cubic structure.
so, co - ordination number = 8
