Given:

  • Mass of cubical block = 1 kg

  • Side of cubical block = 2 cm

  • Acceleration due to gravity = 10 m/s²

To be calculated:

calculate the pressure exerted by the block ?

Formula used:

  • Area of cube = ( Side )²

  • Force = m × g

  • Pressure = Force/Area

Solution:

Firstly, we convert Side of 2 cm into metre.

2 cm = 2/100 = 0.02 m [ 1 cm = 100 ]

Area of cube = ( Side )²

= ( 0.02 )²

= 0.0004 m²

In this case force will be the mass of cubical block which is given by m × g.

Force = m × g

= 1 × 10

= 10 N

Now,

Pressure = Force/Area

= 10 N / 0.0004 m²

= 25,000 N/m² or 25,000 Pa

Thus, the pressure exerted by block is 25,000 Pascal.
