Answer:

there is a silly mistake I think...

steps are:

lateral surface area= 2×h(l+b)

= 2×8(5+5)

=16(10)

=160sq. units

TSA= 2(lb+bh+hl)

=2(5×5+5×8+8×5)

=2(25+40+40)

=2(105)

2×105

=210sq.units.

Given,

  1. side of the square base of the cuboid = 5m
  2. height of the cuboid = 8m

To find,

  1. lateral surface area of the cuboid, and
  2. total surface area of the cuboid

Solution,

Let the side of the square be s and the height be h

We know that,

Lateral Surface Area (LSA)= 2h(length + breadth)

As the base of the cuboid is a square, the formula will be

LSA = 2h(s + s) = 2 × 8 × 10= 160 m²

Now the formula for

Total Surface Area(TSA) = 2{(length × breadth) + (breadth × height)+(length × height)}

As the base is square,

TSA = 2(s² + sh +sh)

= 2(s² + 2sh)

= 2{ 5² + (2 × 5 × 8)}

=2(25 + 80)

=2 × 105 = 210 m²

Hence, the lateral surface area is 160 m², and the total surface area is 210 m².
