A cuboid has a total surface area of 50 sq m and its lateral surface area is 36 sq m find the area of its base

Answer:

total surface area of cuboid= 2(lb+bh+lh)

50=2(lb+bh+lh)

25=lb+ bh +lh

25-lb=lh +bh ........(1)

lateral surface area of cuboid =2(l+b)h

36=2(l+b)h

18=lh+bh

18=25-lb

-7=-lb

lb=7

b=7/l

putting the value of b in equation (1)

25-l*7/l=lh+7/l*h

25=lh+7h/l

let us assume that length and height of cuboid are same

25=l^2+7

18=l^2

3√2=l

b=7/3√2
