Lateral surface area = 26m²
Lateral surface area = 2 h ( l + b ) = 2lh + 2bh or

lateral surface area = 2(lh + bh )
26 = 2(lh + bh )
26/2 = lh + bh

Total surface area = 2( lb + bh + lh )
40/2 = lb + bh + lh
20 = lb + lh + bh

substituting the values,
we have,

lb + bh + lh = 20
lh + bh + lb = 20
13 + lb = 20
lb = 20 - 13
lb = 7

The base area is 7m²
