A cuboid of dimensions (12cm × 8cm × 2 cm) is

painted black on both the surfaces of dimensions

(8cm × 2 cm), green on the surfaces of dimensions

(12cm × 8cm) and red on the surfaces of

dimensions (12cm × 2 cm). Now the block is

divided into various smaller cubes of side 2cm

each. The smaller cubes so obtained are separated.

How many cubes will have atleast three surfaces

coloured?

16 cubes have at least 3 surfaces coloured.

Imagine the cuboid given.

Suppose its height is 2 cm.

The length is 12 cm.

and breadth is 8 cm.

we divide it into cubes of 2 cm each.

so all the parts leaving the centre of the cuboid will have 3 surfaces coloured.

so have 8 blocks in the centre we subtract it from 24 and boom there is your answer 16.
