Correct Question:

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

A cuboidal oil tin is 30 cm by 40 cm by 50 cm. Find the cost of tin required for making 20 such tins If the cost of tin sheet is 20 rupees per square metre.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Given:

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • Length of the tin sheet (l) = 30 cm
  • Breadth (b) = 40 cm
  • Height (h) = 50 cm
  • Cost of tin sheet per square metre = 20 Rs

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

To find:

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Cost of tin required to make 20 such tins = 20 Rs

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Solution:

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

It is given that the shape of the tin is cuboidal. So,

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Surface area of one tin = 2(lb + bh + lh)

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

= 2(1200 + 2000 + 1500) cm^{2}

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

= (2 × 4700) cm^{2} = 9400 cm^{2}

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Since, surface area of one tin is 9400 cm^{2} .

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Surface area of 20 such tins = 20 × 9400

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

= 188000 cm^{2} .

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

\because 10000 cm^{2} = 1 m^{2}

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Surface area of 20 such tins in m^{2}

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

= 188000/10000 m^{2}

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

= 18.8 m^{2}

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Cost of 1 square metre of tin sheet is 20 Rs (given)

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So, cost of 18.8 m^{2} of tin sheet

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

= (20 × 18.8) = 376 Rs
