Answer: C

Step-by-step explanation:

intial ratio = 4:1

30% of sugar so 70% of pure milk

ratio=3:7

ratio of quantity = (4/5 + 3/10) / (1/5 + 7/10)

                           =11/9

                        11:9 is the answer

Given : A cup of milk containing sugar and pure milk in the ratio 4 : 1 respectively is mixed with another cup of milk of same volume as the earlier and containing 30% of sugar.

To Find : the ratio of total quantity of sugar to the total quantity of pure milk.

A. 15:13

B. 17 : 13

C. 11:9

D.  17:15

Solution:

Volume in Each =  10x  ml

sugar and pure milk in the ratio 4 : 1

4 + 1 = 5

=> Sugar  = (4/5) 10x = 8x  ml

=> Milk = (1/5)10x = 2x ml

containing 30% of sugar.

=> Sugar  = (30/100) 10x = 3x  ml

=> Milk =  10x - 3x = 7x  ml

Total Sugar = 8x + 3x = 11x

Total Milk = 2x + 7x  = 9x

Ratio   11x : 9x

= 11:9

Hence Correct option is C)  11:9
