A cup of milk contains 3 parts of milk and 1 part of water . how much mixture must be withdrawn and substitute by water in order that the resulting mixture may be half milk and half water

milk=3/3+1.x=3x/4 part
water=1/3+1.x=x/4 part
from question,
a cup of milk contains in milk=3/4-3x/4
=3-3x/4 part

=1-x+x/4 = 1/4 part
again,
1/4=3-3x/4
1-3=-3x
x =2/3 part
